Overview
Psychic Heartcraft, also called The Veil, is the tradition of mind-reading, emotional projection, and the construction and demolition of mental barriers. It is the most intimate form of Heartcraft -- practitioners experience others' emotions directly, without the mediation of plants, elements, or time.
How It Works
The Veil operates on consciousness itself. A practitioner can sense the emotional state of everyone nearby, project their own emotions into others' minds, and build or destroy the mental barriers that normally separate one person's inner life from another's.
The Veil's depth is proportional to proximity and intention. Surface reading requires only presence. Deep reading requires focus. Projection requires will. Each level costs more and reveals more.
The Risk
Absorbing others' pain, losing your own emotional identity. The Veil doesn't just let you read emotions -- it lets emotions read you. Without barriers, a Veil practitioner drowns in the feelings of everyone around them. The walls Jane builds are not optional. They are survival.
