Overview
Deep in Thornwood's forest, past the Lamppost, past the paths that the academy maintains, past the point where the canopy becomes too dense for sunlight, there is a place where the air changes. Not the temperature. The weight. Time itself becomes heavier, thicker, slower — and then, between two ancient trees whose roots have intertwined in ways that suggest intention rather than accident, time stops entirely.
The Neverwood is a pocket of frozen time. Inside its boundary, nothing ages. Leaves do not fall. Insects hover in mid-flight. Rain hangs in the air like glass. A single moment, stretched infinitely, held in place by a boy who decided that growing up was something that happened to other people.
How It Formed
The Neverwood is the product of Peter Pan's Chronomancy, taken to its logical and terrible extreme. He froze himself to avoid aging. The freeze expanded. The pocket grew. Whether Peter created the Neverwood or whether the Loom's degradation allowed his magic to propagate beyond his body is a question the Hours monks debate with increasing urgency.
The Expansion
The Neverwood's boundary has been growing. Trees near its edge age slower than they should. Insects at the perimeter hover for seconds before resuming flight. The Hours monks at Thornwood have been measuring the expansion rate. It is accelerating.
If the boundary reaches the academy grounds, the implications for a school full of magical students are significant. If it reaches the Rooting Ground — where the Loom runs thinnest — the implications are worse.
