The Four Groves

Ashwood, Ironwood, Elmwood, Willowwood. Each sits above a distinct leak in the Loom, shaping how magic develops for the students Rooted there.

Overview

The four Groves at Thornwood Academy are leak zones -- different areas of the grounds sit above different leak patterns in the Loom, and over centuries, each cluster developed its own character.

Being Rooted in a Grove literally changes how your magic develops.

Ashwood

Gold-amber. West wing. Built over the most volatile leak. Cultivates raw power, instinct, emotional fluency. Magic that moves fast and asks questions later. The common room's ivy chandelier glows because the walls are saturated.

Ironwood

Blue-silver. East wing. Built over a leak that runs in perfectly regular patterns. Cultivates control, precision, analytical mastery. Magic that measures twice and cuts once. The Hollows cluster here.

Elmwood

Deep green. South wing. Built over a leak that branches like roots -- wide, interconnected, nourishing. Cultivates community, patience, collaborative magic. Power that strengthens through connection. The healing ward is here.

Willowwood

Purple. North wing. Built over a leak that changes direction. Cultivates creativity, flexibility, unconventional solutions. Magic that finds the path nobody else sees. The floorboards creak differently every semester.
