River Magic

The magic of moving water -- currents, channels, the path of least resistance. Can sense where things are flowing: people, events, consequences.

Overview

River Magic, also called The Current, is the tradition of moving water and everything that flows. It is the most intuitive of the ten traditions -- practitioners don't study it so much as listen to it. The river has been flowing past Thornwood for longer than Thornwood has existed. It knows things.

How It Works

The Current operates on flow. Not just water -- the flow of people, events, consequences. A River Magic practitioner can sense where things are headed the way a riverbank can feel the current. They know what's downstream before it arrives.

The practical applications include water manipulation, current sensing, and a form of precognition that operates not through seeing the future but through feeling the direction things are already moving.

The Risk

Going with the flow when you should stand firm. The Current's temptation is passivity -- letting things happen because they're going to happen anyway. Every dam breaks eventually, and maybe that's the point. But maybe some things are worth standing against the current for.

The Wellspring Connection

River Magic is the Wellspring filtered through kinetic energy -- raw creative potential channeled through the force that makes things move.
