Pan & Pandism

The dominant religion of the Thornwood universe. Pan means 'all.' Whether Pan created the world, IS the world, or left it behind -- that's where sects diverge.

Overview

Pandism is the dominant religion across the Thornwood universe -- monotheistic worship of Pan, understood not as the goat-legged trickster of Greek mythology but as the supreme creator deity. The All-God. The One Who Contains Everything.

The name itself is the theology: Pan means all.

The Sects

**Orthodox Pandism**: Pan is a being. A creator. Separate from creation. Pan made the Wellspring the way a potter makes a pot. "Pan made. Pan gave. Pan watches."

**Pantheic Pandism**: Pan IS the universe. Every plant Anne grows is Pan growing. Every pattern Alice sees is Pan thinking. "You don't worship Pan. You are Pan. So is the rock."

**Reform Pandism**: Pan existed but is no longer active. Pan created, then left. Or died. Or became the Wellspring and lost individual consciousness.

**Chaotic Pandism**: Pan IS chaos. The Loom is a cage. The Wellspring is Pan trying to express itself and failing beautifully. "The Loom is a prison. The Wellspring is a scream. Let it out."

In Daily Life

Characters swear by Pan casually: "Pan's breath." The Thornwood chapel is non-denominational. Some pray. Some meditate. Some argue. The chapel has no professor assigned to it. It manages itself.
